Huawei’s AI retaliation against the US!

Ana sayfa / Technology

Huawei, which has been blacklisted by the US, cannot access next-generation technologies produced by American companies. However, the Chinese company underlined that they are not lagging behind in artificial intelligence developments. It claims that China is ahead in artificial intelligence despite US pressure.

Huawei Cloud CEO Zhang Ping’an made important statements at an AI event in China. Noting China’s progress in AI, he criticized the US restriction on advanced AI processors.

Huawei cannot access NVIDIA’s H100/H200 and B100/B200 AI chips due to US sanctions. But China’s AI development does not depend on these chips, he said. He said that companies such as SMIC can produce artificial intelligence chips.

Zhang also pointed out that Huawei is developing artificial intelligence models with its Ascend 910 series processors. This chip, which competes with the NVIDIA A100, is used to train AI models connected to Huawei.

The CEO of Huawei Cloud acknowledged that due to delays in manufacturing technologies, they will not have access to the latest products from AMD and NVIDIA. Manufacturing partner SMIC also lacks the most advanced chip production tools.

Zhang advocates an approach that leverages cloud and networking technologies to overcome the barriers imposed by the US. He pointed to Huawei Cloud’s AI services and cloud computing power to compensate for the lack of the most powerful chips.
